Insurance Coverage for Oral Appliances

Do insurance companies cover oral appliance therapy

Yes. Most medical insurance companies cover oral appliance therapy for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. Most companies do not have coverage for snoring only. Your benefit plan is a contract between you and your insurance company. The specifics of your plan are best answered by calling the customer service number listed on your card. Please be aware, We DO NOT take Medicaid

Do medical insurance companies have providers (dentists) in the network for oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea?

No. Most medical insurance companies do not have in-network providers (dentists). 

Can I still see Dr. Dean and get coverage for my treatment even if he is not a provider in my insurance network?

Yes. We are a private pay, fee for service office.  However, we will do all we can to assist you in getting reimbursement from your health insurance carrier.

How much will my insurance company cover for this treatment?

Our office will send a pre-determination letter of benefits to your insurance company. Each plan has different deductables and co-payments. The medical insurance company will respond by sending an explanation of benefits to you.

How do I pay for services?

Our office accepts cash, certified check, MasterCard, Visa and Discover.

Financial Policy

Western Ohio Dental Sleep Medicine is committed to you and your treatment. The following is an excerpt from our financial policy. You will be asked to read and sign a copy of this policy prior to treatment.

Our office is a private pay, fee for service office and does not participate in any medical insurance plans.   However, We realize that patients who have elected to participate in oral appliance therapy need our assistance in obtaining coverage. We will make every attempt to assure successful insurance claim submission for our patients.

In order for us to help you with insurance process, please bring the following with you to your appointment:

  1. Your medical and dental insurance card(s)
  2. A copy of your sleep study and any documentation regarding your sleep disorder.

Several payment options, including credit cards and certified checks, are available to you. Our office will discuss these options with you in further detail.
